: Replaces generic emulation loops with assembly code tailored to the PowerPC architecture.
If you encounter a black screen when launching RetroArch:
The Wii only has 88MB of total RAM. When loading large ROM hacks, heavy cheat codes, or expansive custom arcade games via FinalBurn Neo, standard RetroArch can instantly run out of memory and crash to a black screen. Patched builds optimize memory allocation to give cores the maximum possible breathing room. 2. Enhanced Aspect Ratio and CRT Display Patches retroarch wii patched
If you already use RetroArch, rename your old apps/retroarch folder to apps/retroarch_old . This preserves your save files and configurations. Step 3: Extract the Patched Files
Snes9x 2005 or Snes9x 2010 (The 2005 core offers the best performance for game-changing chips like Super FX, while 2010 offers better audio accuracy for standard games). : Replaces generic emulation loops with assembly code

Turn this option ON for heavier cores like PCSX-Rearmed (PlayStation 1) to gain a massive boost in frame rates.
It must be noted, however, that no amount of patching can fully overcome the Wii's physical limitations. Its meager RAM and lack of a 3D-capable GPU (it lacks an OpenGL renderer) mean that certain systems will never run well, if at all. There is no functional N64 core for the Wii, as the official RetroArch build has never included one, and previous attempts were "accidental and nonfunctional" due to the lack of an OpenGL GPU. For Dreamcast emulation, while a core like Flycast exists for RetroArch in general, it is not available or functional for the Wii's native hardware.
