The Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) exploits Rudra's personal desperation. In exchange for funding Ranjana’s expensive rehabilitation treatment, a rogue RAW official named Bhandari coerces Rudra into a dangerous undercover operation. Rudra assumes the identity of Dr. Sumanth Mishra and travels to Serbia. His mission is to locate and capture Vikram Bahadur Singh (also referred to as Bikram Bahadur Shah, or BBS), an elusive, multi-national criminal syndicate leader responsible for killing nine Indian secret agents.
In an era of slow-burn prestige dramas, Apharan Season 2 chooses "paisa-vasool" entertainment. The episodes are relatively short, ending on sharp cliffhangers that demand "Just one more episode."
Ragini Rawat, now free, gives a press conference revealing her father’s corruption but not the terror funding (to save face for the state). CM Rawat resigns. Season 2 picks up where Season 1 left off, continuing the story of Rudra Srivastava, a morally ambiguous police officer turned kidnapper.
Season 2 picks up after the explosive end of Season 1. Rudra Srivastava, once a feared police officer, is now a broken, alcoholic ex-cop living in obscurity. He is forcibly pulled back into the world of crime when a new nemesis emerges—a flamboyant, unpredictable gangster named Doctor (played by Naveen Kasturia).
