The RF300 must be mounted in the steering compartment (lazarette) near the rudder tiller arm.
(Note: The RF300 is a two-wire frequency feedback unit. It does not use or require a separate 5V or 12V power wire like three-wire potentiometers do.) Step-by-Step Wiring: simrad rf300 installation manual
The RF300 must be mounted in the steering compartment, close to the rudder tiller arm. The RF300 must be mounted in the steering
The RF300 can measure up to ±45 degrees of rotation (90 degrees total). The manual states that the sensor’s lever arm should match the rudder’s maximum angle. If your rudder moves 70 degrees total (35 each way), adjust the pickup point on the quadrant so that the RF300’s arm moves ±35 degrees. , or you will damage the internal potentiometer. The RF300 can measure up to ±45 degrees
Secure the cable every 30 cm (12 inches) with marine-grade cable ties to prevent chafing. 5. Autopilot Calibration and Commissioning
Turn the helm wheel so the rudder tiller arm is in the exact center position (straight ahead).
Input this angle value into the autopilot system when prompted. Repeat the exact same process for hard-over.
